Where did Don Haskins find Willie Cager?

I would like to know where the coach of the Texas Western Miners, Don Haskins, found his player Willie Cager. I think he found him somewhere in New York, but I'm not sure and I don't know the exact city. Unless they're the same, I don't want to know Willie's birthplace. Thank you!
