How does Batman's heroism stand out in "Dark Knight"?

In the end, he was willing to do anything to protect the people and city he loves - even be an "outlaw" and go underground- "why does he have to run?" Yeah, C. Bale, is good - he really is - it's just that Heath is SO amazing and over the top, that it's almost overlooked, but really Batman is very good too. He is willing to be whatever Gotham needs and he is the "Dark Knight" - and of course he'll be back!
